Palm Sunday attack in Egypt: I forgive the bomber who killed my husband says Coptic widow

Coptic widow of a guard killed in a suicide bomb attack at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Alexandria, Egypt. Naseem Faheem’s widow said that she has forgiven the bomber who killed her husband. She said that she prays for the bomber, that God would forgive him.

“I’m not angry at the one who did this,” said the widow, while she was being interviewed by an Egyptian Tv Channel. “I’m telling him, ‘May God forgive you, and we also forgive you. Believe me, we forgive you. You put my husband in a place I couldn’t have dreamed of. Believe me, I am proud of him. And I wish I was there beside him.’”

After her statement, the host remained silent for about 10 seconds, and remarked: “The Copts of Egypt are made of steel! If it were my father, I could never say this. These people have so much forgiveness. But this is their faith and religious conviction. These people are made from a different substance.”

On April 9, dozens were killed as a result of explosions at two Coptic churches in different cities in northern Egypt. Terrorists struck both churches when the worshipers were celebrating Palm Sunday. At least 45 people have been killed, and 100 were injured.

In the first attack, a bomb went off inside St. George’s Church in the Nile Delta city of Tanta, killing at least 27 people and wounding 78, officials said. ISIS’s news agency Amaq stated: “A group that belongs to Islamic State carried out the two attacks on the churches in the cities of Tanta and Alexandria.”

Just a few hours ago, another explosion unfolded in Saint Mark’s Cathedral in Alexandria. Details emerged that a suicide bomber blew himself up killing at least 16 people and left 41 wounded.
